12 Sch 40 Pipe

The tensile strength, 40 kg pressure, is indicated by the sch40 in the 12 sch 40 pipe pipe. It is denoted by a 4.0mm standard thickness. Sch 40 and sch 80 pipe are built of the same material as sch 80 pipe. The thickness of the pipe wall determines the difference in structure; the higher the schedule, the thicker the pipe wall.

The thicker the pipe's wall, the more resistant it is to both external and internal stresses.

Regardless of the schedule, the outside diameter remains constant. Sch 40 and sch 80 pipe have the same fittings and points of entry, so they can be used interchangeably in projects that don't require a thicker wall. The weight per foot of 12 sch 40 pipe is less than that of 12 inch sch 80 pipe, making it easier to install, especially in lengthy lines.

Schedule 80 pipe has more material, making it more expensive to manufacture and for the end user. Schedule 40 pipe is a less expensive alternative to schedule 40 pipe in applications where increased strength isn't a big deal.
